MAYSVILLE, Ky. (Mason County Post) — A national bus tour opposing the rapid expansion of AI data centers made a stop in Maysville on Saturday evening.
The AI Data Center Revolt Bus Tour, organized by the group Humans First, was scheduled to park at the Market Square Shopping Center parking lot between Burger King and Dunham’s Sporting Goods, across from Tractor Supply, at 5 p.m. on Sept. 19.
According to a post by Janet Garrison in the We are Mason County, KY Facebook group, the event was expected to feature speakers from the tour as well as local speakers. Residents were invited to attend in support of “trust and transparency for our community.”
The tour is part of a nationwide effort by Humans First, which describes itself as a grassroots organization focused on putting communities first in decisions about large-scale AI infrastructure. The bus features messaging such as “America First. Communities First” and “Technology should serve people, not the other way around.”
Mason County has been the site of ongoing local debate over a proposed large AI data center campus that would convert thousands of acres of farmland. The project has drawn both support for potential economic benefits and significant opposition from residents concerned about land use, transparency, infrastructure impacts, and quality of life.
