Drinkard Developments unveils new Starbucks Drive thru project in Maysville
Starbucks Construction Brings New Economic potential to Maysville—But Raises Questions for Local Businesses
MASON COUNTY, Ky. (Mason County Post) Maysville and Mason County is highly anticipating the new Starbucks location as construction rapidly progresses, part of a larger initiative by Drinkard Development. Located along a key commercial corridor, the project is expected to bring both economic opportunity and modern amenities to the region.
According to Owen McNeill, who shared updates on social media, the project has moved into its steel-framing phase under the direction of Graves Construction. The new Starbucks is projected to create over 30 jobs, while also attracting regional interest as a standalone store.

“This development doesn’t just offer a place to grab coffee—it represents a larger economic ripple,” McNeill stated. “Starbucks is a brand that draws attention, and its presence here is already generating interest from other businesses that may want to set up shop nearby.”
Beyond job creation, city leaders see the project as a symbol of revitalization and investment in the area’s future. By adding a nationally recognized brand to its landscape, Maysville is positioning itself to compete in a growing regional economy while meeting the demand for modern retail experiences.
However, the arrival of a large corporate brand has also sparked discussion among residents and small business owners. While many welcome the growth, some are questioning what it might mean for local coffee shops and small businesses already operating in the area. Concerns are forming over how independent establishments will compete—not just in pricing, but in customer traffic and visibility.
Local officials and residents alike are looking forward to the store’s grand opening. With steady progress at the construction site, anticipation continues to build for what could be the beginning of more large-scale development in Maysville.
As McNeill noted: “We’re excited to see what the future holds.”
